Kwatro x Robot Koch

After introducing the ‘Kwatro x Spinners’ series with a stunning mix by Dj LeftOoo, we are now proud to feature a mix by the the rising muchacho grosero Robot Koch. This huevón is shooting at us with a lot of unheared dopeness, collected during his triumphant tour trough the us and mexico since early january.

We don’t release the tracklist on principle, because we are convinced that it is much more interesting to be surprised by the selection. Where is the fun if you already know? But in this case, he told us, he received so many untitled music files, which he partly used, so he couldnt provide a tracklist anyway. I am still curious about some artist and tracknames in this mix, so if you know the complete tracklist by listening to it, you are a real music geek, but a real music lover too.

Top up your spanish skills to know what ‘muchacho grosero’ and ‘huevón’ means. Shouts to lovely Graciella and my homie Rob. Did you realised the dope Artwork? Outstanding again and i am just waiting to get a 96 on canvas!

Brownswood Bubblers provides a platform for unsung heroes and emerging talent from the Worldwide underground. The series distils the stream of exciting new artists that have become semi-permanent fixtures in Gilles’ playlists and DJ sets of late to create a suite of perfect bumps.

Now a brand new chapter in the Brownswood Bubblers Saga is expected to be delivered next week. Volume Five drops with a hefty thump in March, bursting at the seams with the finest flip-flop, sweet soul, gorgeous downtempo ditties and assorted exclusive Worldwide jam.

Shuanise - Kingdom (7”)

Shuanise gave me this lovely record at Eglo Records one year birthday at Plastic People the other night. With massive backing by the Eglo fam, she performed a few tracks, including Alailoye from the Voice Of Reason EP released on Up My Alley in late 2009. My personal favourite on the 7” inch, is ‘Catch’ produced by my homie Hubert Daviz.

I am very curious whats coming next. Big things for sure! But before that, cop the recent release and enjoy.

Kwatro x Dj LeFtOoo

Lève Tôt. This name should ring in your ears, if like your mama was calling for dinner. Everytime I hear Lefto in the mix, there is something I have never heard before and I am eager to find out more about that tune that keeps looping in my ear. He used to host ‘The Hop’ at Studio Brussels for many many years and now has his own show on Sunday between 20h - 22h.

Being so much in love with music, Lefto couldn´t resist starting to produce himself. Releases so far, include the Eardrums EP with Jerboa, a contribution to the Nine-compilation (distributed by Rush Hour) and a remix-album for the world-famous Blue Note-label. On ‘Out Of the Blue’ he and his long-time companion Krewcial are remixing some of their favourite tracks from the Blue Note vaults.

Amongst his fans, you’ll find Gilles Peterson, who praises him for his eclecticism and ultratight mixing-skills. He became an official resident for the Worldwide Festivals and a regular writer for the Brownswood Recordings Blog.

Its an honor to have Lefto for the entrée to a regular ‘Kwatro x Spinners’ musical journey, which will be enriched with exaggerative nice Artworks by the talented affiliate 96. Also enjoy the Wallpaper in our Free Treats area.

Gent-based producer and Mac Fly owner Dynooo will release his debut Gum Dragon EP in collaboration with new Belgian label Digsville. It is centered around “Fuh Real” a track Dynooo recorded a while ago with Swedish singer Naboobia.

Dynooo’s work can be described as challenging electronic music inspired by tribal drums, crunk, dubstep, 80’s pop and folk. His crunchy, adventurous and often low-swung sound is as appealing as it is unique, which lends itself well as to why he’s often placed on the same roster with today’s most talked-about beatmakers.

Robot Koch - Death Star Droid Remix EP

On this EP, Robot gathered some friends and like minded artists from around the globe to flip his original compositions.

The EP kicks off with a brand new original tune from Robot Koch: “Blind” featuring Grace on vocals, who also appeard as a guest vocalist on on Death Star Droid. Robot and Grace are working on some new stunning material at the moment that will come out sometime in fall 2010.

When Robot played in NY last time, he met Brooklyn based band Body Language, who release on Machine Drum`s Normrex label, and shared a stage with them at Coco66 in brooklyn. For this EP Robot remixed their tune “New day” and they made a surprising flip of Koch`s dubstep infused album tune “Gorom Sen” in return.

Robot`s berlin mate fLako, who recently grabbed the attention of the likes of Giles Peterson and Stones Throw, make a nice re-edit of the title track of Robot`s album: “Death Star Droid”.

Phon.o (of CLP/Shitkatapult fame) took the club banger potential of the tune “Gorom Sen” to the next level and made it sound like zomby and boy 8 bit jamming it out.

Upcoming beatmaker Shlohmo from San Francisco also remixed “Gorom Sen”, making some noise on the blogoshpere about it prior to the release already.

Loops Haunt from Scotland, who could be found recently in Rustie`s Fact magazine mixtape and Hudson Mohawke`s BBC Essential Mix, made a ten remix of “Gorom Sen”.

Producer Beat Laden from Portugal, that recently caught attention with his KUBO remix on man recordings gave that original sengalese vocal scatting a rerub and turned it into a solid club banger.

Talen, from Switzerland made their very own unique interpretation of Robot Koch`s frenetic original. And last but for sure not least, UK Producer Blue Daisy made a sublime remix of the song “While” feat. Manya one of the few vocal tracks on Robot Koch`s Album. His mix does the cinematic original justice and takes it even further out of space or underwater. A pure sound trip.

I just received some extremly nice drafts from an upcoming project called Procedure De Rutina by Hubert Daviz. He has been working on this project by sampling only rumanian records since early december 2009. The eight to ten tracks strong release will be out as a Free Treat on Kwatro in mid of february.

Pe Vale (Prima Parte) matches perfectly my mood in this literally cold surrounding right now, which is why we want to share it, with the hope you guys feel warm again after listening to it.

This is the first of a one-a-month, twelve-CD series from Madlib on his own imprint, Madlib Invazion. Madlib Medicine Show No. 1: Before The Verdict is a full 17-track hip-hop album with original tracks and “the OJ Simpson remixes” featuring Guilty Simpson. Consider it a prelude to Madlib & Guilty’s collab OJ Simpson.

There are two brief guest appearances by MED and J Dilla, in a short, previously unreleased interlude dating back to his & Madlib’s first collaboration. An 8-page booklet with track list is included in the CD.

It has been a minute since anyone has heard from the mysterious Jay Electronica. Just to let you know he’s alive and well, working on new music, and apparently traveling both the globe and time(?), Jay cut some footage from his trip to Asia to a new track of his produced by Just Blaze called “Dear Moleskine.” The footage was shot on location by Jason Goldwatch. Specifically, in this piece, the Pashputinath Hindu Temple and The Bodinath Buddhist Temple in Kathmandu Nepal. It is from a collaborative film/music project between Jay Electronica’s The Dogon Society and DECON. The project currently has no title or street date.
