Following on from a sell-out performance at Koko (London) last week with Gilles Peterson, Dario Rojo Guerra aka Flako, rounds out 2014 with brand new track ‘Illusions’.
Originally gaining notoriety for his off-the-grid beats and sample-led music, Flako’s sound has been shifting to focus purely around live instrumentation, synthesisers, and his own voice. Inspired as much by the ambient music of Vangelis as by the South American folk and cumbia he asbsorbed from his German-Chilean heritage, his work transcends genre and regional musical forms.
“The tune is about the sensation of Illusions, which is basically a distortion of the senses. It can an occur with any of the human senses and reveals how the brain normally organizes and interprets sensory stimulation. The music is processing a few experiences and realizations about the influence of illusions and is a part of a never ending process of self reflection. Music heals.”
‘Illusions’ is available for free download here.
“He’s been making great music for so long. One of the true great pioneers of electronic music. His name is Flako …” – Gilles Peterson
